Eugene Smith joined EisnerLubin right after college graduation in 1968. As the firm’s quality review partner, Gene helps ensure that the firm’s accounting and auditing engagements meet or exceed the requirements of professional standards. Following the November 1, 2011 merger making EisnerLubin a division of WithumSmith+Brown, PC, Gene became a WS+B partner. His industry expertise includes manufacturing, distribution, service companies, not-for-profit, retail, and real estate. He also specializes in pension and profit-sharing plans.
Gene welcomes the continuing effort to enhance auditor performance. “Reforms created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act-including the creation of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) and the resultant array of accounting, auditing and quality control standards issued by the SEC, FASB and AICPA-have strengthened the public’s confidence in the financial reporting system,” he explains.
Gene is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Gene received his B.S. in accounting from Brooklyn College.
